About
My background in the Fine Arts colors my opinion of what Architecture is capable of. The power of drawing a line that can manifest real difference in the lives of others is what guided me to the discipline. Design is harder; it’s more abstract, and less ideal, and for these reasons it touches deeply. Good design is always an invention, engaging the mind, challenging convention, and pushing culture.
Architecture is a cultural practice; it reflects our loftiest aspirations and addresses our personal and collective concerns. It embodies our ideas and produces the platform on which culture unfolds. Simply put, the way in which we build defines us.
For the past ten years I have worked to hone skills in the visual and spatial expression of ideas. I studied Printmaking at the Columbus College of Art and Design, learning there the value of a line and its capacity to communicate meaning. I learned to love process and discovered in it new potential for expression.
At the Knowlton School of Architecture I developed my technical skills of drafting and design development, producing work that pushes Architecture to confront new theoretical and aesthetic terrains. Through my studies I learned to design with sensitivity and control, which I continue to develop as I begin the process of working toward licensure.
